Aspen & Katie

What we are doing:
We were inspired by stories like this one to create a local flower recycling project. Our mission is to repurpose flowers from local events and prepare flower arrangements that will be given to patients at UNC Hospitals. The bouquets delivered to UNC Hospitals are anonymous and will just let patients know that someone is thinking of them.

How you can help:

E-mail us at heelingflowers@gmail.com to schedule a flower pickup after your event. We accept all flowers and vases and one of our volunteers will come pick up donations without any cost to you.

Who we are:

We are Aspen and Katie, two biomedical science graduate students at UNC Chapel Hill who study human disease and love flowers. We believe in the positive effects flowers can have on people, especially those who are going through a stressful time.

Aspen grew up in Colorado and New Mexico where she developed a passion for the outdoors. Aspen lives by the motto that flowers make everything better. She took a flower design class during college and learned the true impact that flowers can have on an individual. She hopes to make an impact on her community using the healing nature of flowers and the joy they bring to people.

Katie grew up in Oregon and has several landscape artists in her family. She has always had a deep appreciation for nature and flowers in particular. Flowers were her first inspiration when she started as a photographer and they have continued to inspire her over the last ten years. She wants to share the happiness that flowers have given her with people in her community.
